Exploring AI’s Powerful Expansion And Its Future Across Industries
- 6 mins read
Every worker deserves fair pay for their hard work. Recently, the All India United Trade Union Centre (AIUTUC) raised its voice for working people. They are demanding the immediate implementation of revised minimum wages. Many workers across the country struggle every day to buy basic things. When wages do not increase, life becomes very difficult for poor families.
The cost of living is rising quickly. Prices for food, rent, fuel, and healthcare go up almost every month. However, the pay that workers receive often stays the same for years. AIUTUC points out that the government has already announced revised wage rates in many places. Yet, many employers and official bodies have not put these changes into action.
When companies delay wage updates, workers suffer the most. Daily wage earners, contract workers, and factory employees cannot afford basic needs. They struggle to pay for their children's education and basic medical expenses. AIUTUC believes that delaying these wage increases is unfair and breaks labor promises.
Inflation makes life hard for common citizens. Things like rice, vegetables, cooking oil, and transport cost much more today than they did a few years ago. Middle-class and upper-class families might look into buying luxury items or compact SUVs for city driving, but poor workers can barely afford a single meal for their children.
Because prices keep going up, the old wage rates are no longer enough. The revised minimum wages were calculated to help workers keep up with basic survival costs. If these wages are not given right away, workers sink deeper into debt and poverty.
Trade unions also express worry about how public money is spent. While poor workers fight for a few extra rupees a day, huge amounts of public money are often wasted or stolen through financial frauds. For example, news stories about a 700-crore medical scam investigation show how funds meant for public welfare can disappear due to corruption.
AIUTUC argues that if government agencies can find funds for large projects and administration, they must also ensure that working-class people get paid correctly. Stopping corruption and enforcing labor laws are two major steps toward a fair society.
The trade union has outlined several key demands for authorities and private employers:
First, all employers must start paying the newly revised minimum wages immediately. There should be no more delays or excuses.
There’s more to life than simply increasing its speed.

Second, arrears must be paid to workers. If the revised wage rule was approved months ago, workers should receive the money they were owed for those past months.
Third, strict action must be taken against companies that break labor rules. Labor inspectors should visit factories, construction sites, and offices to make sure employers follow wage laws.
A huge part of the workforce operates in the unorganized sector. This includes street vendors, construction workers, domestic helpers, and small workshop laborers. These workers rarely have fixed job security, pensions, or health insurance.
For unorganized workers, minimum wage laws are their only protection. Without strong enforcement by trade unions like AIUTUC and state authorities, these workers remain vulnerable to low pay and extra working hours without overtime compensation.
Paying workers fair wages is good for the entire country, not just individual families. When workers earn more money, they spend it in local markets. They buy food, clothes, shoes, and services from small businesses.
This spending keeps local economies active and creates more jobs. On the other hand, keeping wages low means people spend less, which slows down economic growth. Therefore, implementing revised minimum wages helps everyone in the long run.
The demand raised by AIUTUC is urgent and important. Workers are the foundation of every industry and city. Without their labor, factories stop, buildings cannot be built, and services close down. Giving workers their revised minimum wages without delay is a basic human right and a legal responsibility. It is time for authorities to listen and act quickly.
