"How can they (AIADMK) join with Modi? He is a terrorist. And he won't believe in equality. His party won't believe in equality and justice. These people are joining them. It means that they are weakening democracy"

"I wanted to clarify that PM Modi always threatens (us). I told you that the Income Tax Department, ED, and other institutions are in his hands. I never said he’s a terrorist. He’s terrorising (us)."

BJP Takes the Matter to the Election Commission

The BJP was not in the mood to accept this clarification. They decided it was time to take official action. Ahead of the crucial elections in Tamil Nadu, there are strict rules that all political parties must follow, known as the Model Code of Conduct. The BJP firmly accused Kharge and the entire Congress party of breaking these rules.

On Wednesday, a special delegation team from the BJP decided to visit the Election Commission. This high-profile team included Union Ministers and several other big leaders of the party. They officially filed a strong complaint against Mallikarjun Kharge for his shocking remarks.

The Election Commission of India took the complaint very seriously. They acted incredibly fast! Shortly after receiving the complaint from the BJP delegation, the poll body sent a formal notice directly to the Congress leader.

What Top BJP Leaders Are Saying

"Unfortunately, a senior politician, a leader of the Congress party, which has got a lineage of its own, chose to use very dirty language and bring indignity to the office of the Prime Minister, and straightaway called PM Modi a terrorist. Now, the minimum we are seeking is that Mallikarjun Kharge should issue a public apology and seek people's forgiveness."

What Happens Next?

So, where does this leave us now? Right now, the ball is completely in Mallikarjun Kharge’s court. He has received the official notice from the Election Commission and has to figure out his next move. Will he offer a formal, public apology as the BJP leaders are aggressively demanding?
