Famous filmmaker Christopher Nolan recently shared his deep love for India. While visiting Mumbai for the premiere of his new movie, The Odyssey, he called Indian fans among the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable in the world. It is a big honor for Indian cinema lovers to receive such praise from a director of his status.
Nolan decided to launch his latest IMAX film in Mumbai before its global release. He mentioned that it has been a long-cherished dream of his to premiere a project in the heart of India. Along with his wife, producer Emma Thomas, and stars Matt Damon and Tom Holland, Nolan expressed his joy at being back in the country for the third time. Much like how people look for updates on the monsoon season, movie fans in India have been eagerly waiting for this event for months.
During the screening at PVR INOX, Lower Parel, the atmosphere was electric. Matt Damon spoke to the crowd, telling them they were the first real audience to see the film outside of his inner circle. He thanked the fans, saying that the hard work of thousands of people went into making the film a true IMAX experience.
This is not the director's first time in India. He visited in 2011 to shoot scenes for The Dark Knight Rises in Jodhpur. Later, in 2019, he came back to film sequences for Tenet. It is clear that India holds a special place in his heart. His appreciation for the culture and the audience shows in how he speaks about his visits. Just as we might study the history of our calendar, Nolan seems to have a growing interest in the unique energy that Indian audiences bring to the cinema.
