In a major development regarding the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra have submitted their resignations. This move comes after significant reports of money misappropriation and theft concerning donations made by devotees at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Both officials have stated they are taking moral responsibility for the lapses identified during the ongoing investigation.

The decision follows the findings of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the Uttar Pradesh government. The team discovered deep flaws in how the temple handles its finances and valuables. The suspects, including names like Avinash Shukla and Anukalp Mishra, are now facing serious legal charges. These charges include theft, criminal breach of trust, and criminal conspiracy under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The SIT report highlighted alarming gaps in the temple's security protocols. Investigators noted that there was inadequate checking of staff, weak CCTV coverage, and irregular procedures when moving donations from the temple to bank accounts.
