We all love Kasauli, don’t we? There is something about those narrow winding roads, the smell of pine trees, and that old-world colonial charm that just hits different. But what if I told you that Kasauli is just the beginning?
If you have a couple of extra days or just want to go on a long drive, there are some absolutely stunning places just a stone's throw away. From hidden valleys to royal palaces, the area around Kasauli is packed with surprises.
Grab your sunglasses and a jacket here are 7 scenic hill stations near Kasauli that you need to visit!
If Kasauli is quiet, Chail is silent. Located about two hours from Kasauli, Chail was once the summer capital of the Maharaja of Patiala.
The first thing you’ll notice here is the Chail Palace. It looks like something straight out of a fairy tale! You can walk through the huge gardens or grab a coffee at the outdoor cafe. Don’t forget to visit the Chail Cricket Ground it’s the highest in the world! Surrounded by thick forests, the view from there is simply breathtaking. It’s the perfect spot if you want to feel like royalty for a day.

You can’t visit this region and skip Shimla. It’s about 70 km from Kasauli and is always buzzing with energy.
Take a walk down the Mall Road, grab some soft-serve ice cream, and watch the sunset from The Ridge. If you’re into old architecture, the Viceregal Lodge is a must-see. It looks like a miniature Hogwarts! Shimla can get crowded, but there is a reason everyone loves it the vibe here is unmatched. Plus, the toy train ride nearby is an experience you’ll never forget.

Barog is very close to Kasauli (only about 18 km), and it is often overlooked. But that’s exactly why you should go! It’s peaceful, green, and has a bit of a spooky history.
The Barog Railway Station is one of the most beautiful stations in India. It looks like a colorful cottage nestled in the mountains. Legend has it that Tunnel No. 33 here is haunted, but don’t worry during the day, it’s just a gorgeous spot for photos. If you want a quiet lunch with a view of the valleys, Barog is your go-to spot.

Often called the 'Gateway to Himachal,' Solan is a bustling town with a lot of heart. It’s lower in altitude than Kasauli, making it a bit warmer and very lush.
While you are here, visit the Shoolini Mata Temple, which is famous in the region. If you’re a nature lover, head over to the Mohan Shakti Heritage Park. It’s a massive complex with stunning marble carvings and is surrounded by mountains. Solan is also great for local shopping you can find fresh fruit juices and jams that taste way better than the store-bought ones!
There’s more to life than simply increasing its speed.

If you are driving up from Chandigarh, Parwanoo is the first hill station you hit. The highlight here is definitely the Timber Trail.
Imagine sitting in a cable car, suspended high above a deep gorge, moving from one mountain to another. It’s a bit scary but totally exhilarating! Once you reach the top, there are beautiful resorts where you can sit and watch the clouds float by. It’s a great spot for a quick lunch break or a romantic sunset date.

If you’re traveling with family or friends who love a bit of action, head to Kufri. It’s a little further past Shimla, but the views are worth the extra miles.
Kufri is famous for its panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. You can go horse riding, visit the Himalayan Nature Park (where you might spot a Snow Leopard!), or just enjoy the Great Indo-Sita fun world. In the winter, Kufri turns into a white wonderland, making it the best place for a snowball fight!

Want to get away from the crowds of Shimla? Mashobra is your answer. It’s a quiet, green paradise filled with oak and cedar trees.
This place is known as the 'Quieter Shimla.' You can go for long nature walks in the Reserve Forest Sanctuary, which is one of Asia’s largest watersheds. The air here is so crisp and fresh, you’ll feel like your lungs are getting a spa day. It’s the best place to just sit with a book and a hot cup of tea while looking at the mountains.

Kasauli is a gem, but the surrounding hills have so much more magic to offer. Whether you want the thrill of a cable car in Parwanoo or the royal vibes of Chail, there is something for everyone nearby.
So, which of these hill stations are you adding to your bucket list first? Let me know in the comments below!
Happy Traveling!
