OnePlus Nord 6 quick review and top features

Hey everyone! Welcome back to the blog. Today, we have something super exciting to talk about. If you have been following the smartphone market over the last few years, you probably know that the OnePlus Nord series is all about giving you maximum bang for your buck. Last year, the Nord 5 was our go-to recommendation for anyone who wanted a fast, reliable phone without spending flagship money.

Now, OnePlus is back with a bang. They have officially launched the OnePlus Nord 6 in India, and it looks like it is strictly focused on doing what the Nord series does best, delivering top-tier performance at a friendly price point.

We have spent a few days with this new device, and while a full, deep-dive review is still in the works, We wanted to share our quick review, first impressions, and the top features of the OnePlus Nord 6 with you all. So, let’s jump right into it!

The Price and Unboxing Experience

Let’s talk numbers first. The OnePlus Nord 6 has been launched at a starting price of Rs 38,999 in India. For what this phone is packing inside, that price tag is looking very attractive.

Opening the box is a treat. You know the drill it comes in the brand’s signature, bright blue box that we all know and love. Once you open it up, everything is neatly packed inside. You get the Nord 6 itself, all the usual paperwork, a matching silicone case to keep your phone safe from day one, and a SIM ejector tool.

But here is the best part, you actually get an 80W fast charger inside the box! In a world where most brands are removing chargers from the box to save money, it is so refreshing to see OnePlus still giving us everything we need right from the start.

A Fresh New Design and Cool Colors

The very first thing you will notice when you hold the OnePlus Nord 6 is the fresh design. Over the years, OnePlus has loved tweaking the look of the Nord phones. This time, they did not just make small changes, they made a proper design shift.

Say goodbye to the old pill-shaped camera module. The Nord 6 now features a more squared-off camera island on the back. While this is new for the Nord series, it perfectly matches the design language of the recent premium OnePlus phones, like the flagship OnePlus 15 and 15R. It makes the Nord 6 look way more expensive than it actually is.

You can pick from three awesome colors:

  • Holographic Quick Silver: This one has an almost reflective finish with subtle border details that give it a lot of character.
  • Fresh Mint: This is the unit We have been testing. It looks very clean, simple, and minimal.
  • Pitch Black: For those who love a classic, stealthy look.

When it comes to the feel, it is built very solid. Keep in mind that it is primarily made of plastic, and at 8.5mm thick, it does carry a little bit of bulk. It does not feel super slim, but it feels sturdy. And speaking of sturdy, it comes with impressive IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings! This means it is incredibly protected against dust and water.

Super Smooth 165Hz Screen

One of the biggest and most exciting upgrades on the Nord 6 is the screen. OnePlus has bumped up the refresh rate to a massive 165Hz (up from 144Hz on the older Nord 5).

What does this mean for you? It means everything you do on the screen feels unbelievably fast and responsive. Whether you are swiping through menus or playing games, it is buttery smooth. Now, We should mention that for regular daily apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, or basic system apps, the phone won't run at the full 165Hz to save battery. But when you fire up games, it truly shines.

We tested it with casual games like Asphalt 9 and Minecraft. The display looks beautiful with bright, popping colors, and there was zero lag or heating issues. It is a joy to look at!

There’s more to life than simply increasing its speed.

Performance

Let's talk about the heart of the phone. Performance has always been in the DNA of the Nord series, and the Nord 6 takes it to a whole new level.

Under the hood, it is powered by the top-tier Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor. This chip makes the phone feel like a true premium flagship. Multitasking is an absolute breeze. We was jumping between apps, watching videos, and playing games, and we did not notice a single stutter or slowdown. The phone just feels incredibly fast, fluid, and capable.

On the software side, it runs on OxygenOS 16. As always, OnePlus delivers a clean, smooth, and easy-to-use software experience. Yes, there are a few pre-installed apps when you first turn it on, but don't worry most of them can be easily deleted with just a tap.

Battery Life

If you hate charging your phone constantly, you are going to love this. The battery on the OnePlus Nord 6 is simply massive. OnePlus has packed in a giant 9,000mAh battery unit! While it might not be the absolute largest in the world, it is insanely huge for a daily smartphone.

Here is a real-world example of how good it is, We unboxed the phone with the battery at 85 percent. After three whole days of casual use scrolling, clicking photos, and messaging it still had about 36 percent left! That is just mind-blowing. For everyday usage, this is easily a phone that will last you multiple days on a single charge.

And when you finally do need to plug it in, the 80W fast charger gets you back to 100 percent in no time. Another super cool feature is the 27W reverse charging. This means your phone has so much battery that you can actually use it like a power bank to charge your friends' phones or your wireless earbuds!

Camera Quality

We are still testing the cameras fully, but We do have some early thoughts. Our initial daylight photos look really sharp and packed with detail.

We did notice that the color tones tend to lean a little bit toward the warmer side. Also, when using the Portrait mode, there were a few minor misses around edge detection (like blurring a bit of the hair by accident). It is too soon to give a final verdict on the cameras, so we will be testing them a lot more in different lighting conditions before our full review.

Final Thoughts

So far, the OnePlus Nord 6 is looking like a fantastic device. It feels like a massive step up from its predecessor. The performance is incredibly fast, the 165Hz display looks great, and the 9,000mAh battery life is absolutely the star of the show.

Overall, the Nord 6 feels like a very solid upgrade and a highly promising option under Rs 40,000. Is it the perfect gamer's dream phone? Is it worth upgrading from your current phone? We will save our absolute final verdict for the full review, so make sure to bookmark this blog and stay tuned for more updates!
